The Kizimen volcano in the far-eastern Russia entered eruption on Monday. It lies in the Kamchatka peninsula and was idle from 1929 to 2009. Now, its expelled ashes and water vapor are reaching four kilometers highs. Airplanes that fly over the region were warned to change their routes, since the ashes may damage their jet engines.
Kizimer is at the border of the Pacific ring of fire, a region with intense seismologic activities such as earthquakes and volcano eruptions.
