Canada's Silver Wheaton has entered into an agreement to buy Augusta Resource's gold and silver output at the Rosemont copper deposit in the U.S. state of Arizona. It will pay US$ 230 million in cash for the deal. The mine is expected to be a "low-cost, long-life and large-scale" project, in the Silver Wheaton's words. Silver output at the site is estimated at 2.4 million ounces a year and gold production is estimated at 15,000 ounces a year.
