Newmont Mining said on Tuesday it is selling a 14% stake in an Indonesian gold mine for US$ 494 million, ending a long dispute with the Indonesian government over how the mining company should sell shares as required under its contract to operate in the country. The share at Batu Jijau mine will be sold to PT Multicapital and PT Multi Daerah, which will join Japan's Sumitomo Corp. and local entrepreneur PT Pukuafu Indah. Newmont already sold other 10% to the consortium for about US$ 391 million.
