Iron ore price climbed to a 13-month high on Thursday amid rising demand from Chinese steelmakers. Rising for the ninth consecutive day, the cost of 62% iron-content ore increased 4.3% to US$ 130.10 a ton. In six weeks, spot prices rose 31%, and doubled from the March 2009 low. That’s more good news to iron ore mining companies, as they certainly will pressure buyers to accept a higher price for the 2010 contracts.
