Goldcorp announced this week it has bought a 12.9% stake in Osisko Mining, a junior company whose Canadian Malartic mine is considered a promising deposit in the province of Québec, with over 6.28 million ounces of proven and provable gold reserves and other 3.65 million measured ounces of the precious metal. The area is being developed into a large-scale open pit mining project. New mineralized zones adjacent to the deposit will be drilled and may add more reserves to the final numbers.
