British newspaper "Independent" said Anglo American is almost ready to offload all its zinc assets and raise about US$ 800 million in the deal. Investment banks UBS and Goldman Sachs are advising the mining giant in the sale, and finalizing a paper for the assets which could be sent to potential bidders by early February. It may be a wise move by the South African miner as inventories in China and in the London Metal Exchange are heading towards a five year-high. Some of Anglo's zinc projects include Lisheen in Ireland and Skorpion in Namibia.
