Mining giant Vale is adopting measures to cut water consumption at its flagship iron ore projects in Brazil’s northern Pará state. The company created devices to reduce use of water at the expansion works, such as destining water that cleaned trucks to the production of concrete. Vale also adopted a dry process to sift iron ore. Jamil Sebe, head of Ferrous Projects at the company, said the measures will cut water consumption at the expansion of the Serra Sul project by 44%.
