German steel giant ThyssenKrupp has started this week procedures to sell its interests in steelmakers in the Americas. Brazilian newspaper “Valor Econômico” wrote on Tuesday that investment banks Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley are approaching potential investors worldwide and giving them information about ThyssenKrupp Steel Americas – owner of a plant in the U.S. state of Alabama and major shareholder of Companhia Siderúrgica do Atlântico in Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro state.
Non-binding offers are being welcomed until September 28. Sources close to ThyssenKrupp told “Valor” some ten groups are interested in the assets, with Ternium, CSN and ArcelorMittal as the most interested parties.
