Terramin, the Australian junior base-metals miner, has rejected an offer for its majority stake in the Tala Hamza zinc-lead project in Bejaia, Algeria. In a statement, the company confirmed it was approached by an entrepreneur interested in acquiring the 65% interest in Tala Hamza for US$ 60 million but Terramin’s management board said the proposal “was not commercially acceptable”.
Tala Hamza holds a probable reserve of 38.1 million tonnes of ore with high grades of zinc and lead, and its mine life is expected to last for over a decade.
