Strong earthquake causes panic in eastern Indonesia

A 6.2-degree earthquake hit Indonesia’s eastern province of Papua on Wednesday, causing panic among residents, despite no immediate reports of damages or casualties. According to the country’s Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency, the quake was centered about 34 kilometers southwest of the mountainous town of Oksibil at a depth of 57 kilometers.
