Canadian junior miner Stornoway Diamonds said on Thursday that the Quebec government had given it the go-ahead to build the Renard diamond mine, prompting the company to seek for a credit line to fund works at the site. “As of today we are able to say that the principal regulatory hurdle for the Renard diamond project is behind us,” Matt Manson, Stornoway chief executive, said in a statement.
Stornoway believes the Renard mine is to cost some US$ 810 million to build and produce an average 1.7 million carats per annum over an 11-year mine life.
