Royal Dutch Shell signs its first shale gas deal in China

Oil tycoon Royal Dutch Shell said it has signed its first-ever production sharing contract for shale gas in China with state-owned China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC). The Asian nation has set a target of 2015 by which to start production of the fuel and will count on Shell technology to help reaching the goal. Other foreign firms that have signed agreements to look for shale gas in China include BP, Chevron and Total.
