Brazilian base metals miner Paranapanema revealed its growth strategy for the next years, planning to acquire minority stakes at junior and mid-tier mining companies with projects in Brazil and abroad, chief executive Luiz Antônio Ferraz Júnior told newspaper “Valor Econômico”. Paranapanema is seeking for low-cost companies with reserves of at least 200 million tonnes of copper ore, boosting the base metal’s output to diminish Brazilian imports.
Recently, the company put up for sale its fertilizers unit to focus on copper and other base metals.
