Chinese-owned Minerals and Metals Group (MMG) has delivered its proposal for two zinc-copper mines in the Kitikmeot region of Canada’s Nunavut province. Local authorities have received the proposal, a first step in the regulatory review process. MMG plans to export 180,000 tonnes of zinc and 50,000 tonnes of copper a year from its Izok Lake and High Lake properties, building infrastructure such as a port and a 350-kilometer road to connect the mining sites and ship the production.
