Australian copper miner Hillgrove Resources said this week it plans to extend the mine life of its Kanmantoo operation to some eight years, with reserve upgrades expected next year. In an interview, chief executive Russel Middleton said a resource increase at Kanmantoo by March next year, with a reserve update expected by mid-2013. Hillgrove recently reported a 15% increase in copper production from Kanmantoo, thanks to improved copper recoveries and higher mill throughput rates.
