Copper prices hit on Wednesday the lowest mark since January 9, amid pessimism about the European debt crisis. The higher French unemployment rate and a report issued by the Spanish Central Bank stating that the economy will shrink for another quarter helped copper prices drop 1.7% to US$ 7.546 a tonne at the London Metal Exchange. Aluminum prices were down 1.14% to US$ 1.997 a tonne while nickel slid 3.06% to US$ 16.450 per tonne.
