Russia’s state-owned diamond monopoly Alrosa announced Friday that an enormous diamond with an estimated value of more than US$ 1 million has been discovered in its Nyurbinsk mine in the far eastern Yakutia region. Once processed, the gem could be cut into several diamonds, each of them worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, an Alrosa spokesman said in a statement.
The discovery of the precious stone was made last month, and the new find is the 32nd heaviest diamond ever discovered, according to 24hgold website.
